At this time of year, been thinking of heading South. How many times I’ve surfed past the buoys that marked a channel or simply aiming the bow towards a “cut” in the Bahamas. The hydrodynamics in the Exumas are easily 3 knots of current running between the shallow Exuma Bank with the deep Exuma Sound. When the tide is flowing in or out, these cuts funnel huge amounts of water through a relatively constricted scoured out channel. Cuts are always treated with caution, but Siskiwit always had power to spare to make the passage, even though sometimes it was not for the faint of heart.
